Manisha Koirala Reveals What Rekha Told Her About Heeramandi: 'I Was Praying If I Couldn't Do The Role...'

Actor Manisha Koirala, who collaborated with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali after 28 years for his OTT debut Heeramandi, revealed in a latest interview that she was moved to tears when veteran Bollywood star Rekha referred to as her after watching the Netflix collection.  Veteran actress Rekha, who was the director’s first option to play the position of Mallikajaan in Heermandi, lauded Manisha Koirala’s efficiency over a name and in addition expressed her happiness at seeing the Khamoshi actor tackle the position which she could not do. In a latest interview with Filmygyan, Manisha Koirala talked about Rekha’s assessment of her efficiency within the collection. She mentioned the Umrao Jaan star informed her, “Bachcha, I used to be praying if I could not do the position, you get to do it. My prayers have come true. You will have finished it marvelously, you might have gone by a lot in life. You will have added soul to the position.”

Speaking about her response, Manisha Koirala mentioned, “To get a blessing and reward from an artist of her calibre is one thing else. I had tears in my eyes, and I informed her, ‘You make me cry.’ She loves me quite a bit.” Manisha Koirala additionally added, “Rekha ji was provided this position 18–20 years in the past.  Rekha ji is a goddess. I like her. She is essentially the most sleek and poetic, and she or he is a superb artist. Her voice, her dance, her adaa, her fashion, her aesthetics…she is a fantastic individual. Ashok Mehta ji (cinematographer) would say about her, ‘No actor could be in comparison with Rekha.'”

For the unversed, Rekha and Manisha Koirala had been seen collectively in Rajkumar Santoshi’s 2001 movie Lajja.
