Chidambaram’s remarks came visiting BJP MP Anantkumar Hegde’s assertion that his social gathering wants a two-thirds majority to amend the Structure

Senior Congress chief P Chidambaram on Monday claimed that if the Structure is amended in accordance with the BJP-RSS agenda, it will likely be the top of parliamentary democracy, federalism, rights of the minorities, and English being one of many two official languages.

Chidambaram’s remarks came visiting BJP MP Anantkumar Hegde’s assertion that his social gathering wants a two-thirds majority to amend the Structure.

In a submit on X, Chidambaram stated, “The BJP’s intention to amend the Structure was by no means a secret. Dozens of BJP leaders in non-public conversations have stated that India have to be a Hindu Rashtra, that Hindi have to be the only real official language of India and that the central authorities have to be robust and prevail over the state governments.”

Typically, members like Hegde spill the beans, and shortly deny their phrases, the previous Union minister stated, including that “that is an outdated ploy”.

The aim is achieved and the RSS/BJP cadres are enthused that the BJP continues to nurture the concept of amending the Structure, Chidambaram stated.

“If the Structure is amended in accordance with the RSS/BJP agenda, that would be the finish of Parliamentary democracy, Federalism, rights of the Minorities, and the English language being one of many two official languages,” he claimed.

The BJP on Sunday dubbed Hegde’s remarks “private opinion” and sought clarification from him.

In a submit on X, the Karnataka unit of the BJP stated, “MP Ananthkumar Hegde’s remarks on the Structure are his private views and don’t replicate the social gathering’s stance. BJP reaffirms our unwavering dedication to uphold the nation’s Structure and can ask for an evidence from Hegde relating to his feedback.”

After Hegde’s remarks, the Congress accused the BJP and the RSS of getting a “hidden and devious” agenda of “re-writing and destroying” the Structure.

Addressing a gathering at Karwar in Karnataka on Saturday, Hegde had stated the BJP wants a two-thirds majority in each homes of Parliament to amend the Structure and “set proper the distortions and pointless additions made to it by the Congress”.

A six-term Lok Sabha MP and former Union minister, Hegde is thought for his hardline views and his feedback have sparked controversies prior to now too.
