England batter Joe Root, continued his horror run in the ongoing Test series against India as he was dismissed for a mere 7 runs during Day 4 of the 3rd Test at Rajkot on February 18, Sunday.

The hometown hero, Ravindra Jadeja weaved his magic to get Root out LBW in the 22nd over of the 4th innings. Root reviewed the on-field umpire Joel Wilson’s decision, only to walk off the field in dejection. With this dismissal, Jadeja managed to get the better of the English batter for the 7th time in Test cricket.

In 27 innings, Root has scored 441 runs at an average of 63 and has been dismissed 7 times against Jadeja. This was the second time that Jadeja got Root’s wicket in this 5-match series after missing the 2nd Test. Another Indian bowler who has continued to haunt Root is the ace pacer, Jasprit Bumrah. He managed to dismiss Root during England’s 1st innings for the 9th time in 21 innings as the batter attempted a reverse-scoop shot.

BAZBALLING ROOT’S STRUGGLES IN INDIA

England were reduced to 50 for 5 after Root’s dismissal as the team imploded under the weight of the mammoth target of 557 runs. India registered their biggest win in terms of runs with 420 runs. Root has been having a terrible time with the bat on the Indian tracks as he hasn’t managed to score even a single fifty plus score so far in the series.

Root has bowled more than 100 overs, which is more than the amount of runs he has scored against India in the series. In the 3 Tests so far, Root has managed to score only 77 runs at an average of 12.83 and the highest score so far is 29.

Playing at his home ground, Jadeja picked up a 5-wicket haul. He showed an all-round display of batting as well as the bowling. During India’s 1st innings, Jadeja slammed 112 runs from 225 balls to take India’s total of 445 runs. Jadeja picked up his 13th 5-wicket haul and earned the Player of the Match award.
