An interfaith couple was harassed and assaulted in Hyderabad on Monday. The video of the incident went viral on social media, prompting Charminar Police to provoke a probe which led to the arrests of 4 people.
Within the viral footage, a number of Muslim males confront a person accompanied by a girl in a burqa carrying a child. They repeatedly hit the person, allegedly underneath the belief of his Hindu id, expressing disapproval of his presence in Charminar with a Muslim lady.
The accused demanded proof of his spiritual affiliation, insisting on seeing his Aadhar card. Regardless of the pleas of the lady within the burqa, the sufferer endured additional harassment.
The police booked a suo motu case on Tuesday and fashioned particular groups that have been swiftly assembled to trace down the accused. The next day, 4 people have been arrested. Cell phones containing the viral video proof have been seized from the accused, aiding the investigation.
“4 individuals bodily abused the couple. The lady had a child along with her. The accused tried to hurt the infant as nicely,” stated Charminar ACP P Chandrasekhar. “The accused have been arrested and might be produced in courtroom.”
