World No. 1 Jannik Sinner produced a commanding display to defeat 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the Wimbledon 2026 men’s singles semi-final on Friday. The defending champion did not surrender a single service game during the two-hour, 20-minute contest, setting up a title clash against Alexander Zverev, who earlier beat British wildcard Arthur Fery in straight sets to reach his maiden Wimbledon final.
Sinner was in complete control from the outset, matching Djokovic’s trademark consistency from the baseline before raising his level at the decisive moments. The opening set stayed on serve until 4-4, when the Italian stepped inside the baseline to attack Djokovic’s second serve, earning the first break of the match with a flurry of aggressive groundstrokes. He then served out the set comfortably, firing a series of unreturnable deliveries.
The momentum remained firmly with Sinner in the second set as Djokovic began to show signs of fatigue following his marathon five-hour, 15-minute quarter-final victory over Felix Auger-Aliassime. Sinner relentlessly targeted the Serbian’s second serve, limiting him to just 41% of points won behind it, while his own serve remained untouchable. A solitary break midway through the set proved enough for the defending champion to move within one set of victory.

Djokovic attempted to change the rhythm early in the third set by mixing in drop shots and frequent approaches to the net, but Sinner’s exceptional movement and passing shots repeatedly neutralised the tactical shift. An early break handed the World No. 1 complete control, and although Djokovic earned his only break point of the match with Sinner serving for victory at 5-4, the Italian responded with consecutive first serves before sealing the win.
The numbers underlined Sinner’s dominance. He fired 16 aces without committing a double fault, won 88% of points behind his first serve and converted three of his 13 break-point opportunities. Djokovic, meanwhile, failed to convert his lone break point and managed just 17 return points across Sinner’s 15 service games, highlighting the Italian’s authority behind serve.
The victory sends Sinner into a second consecutive Wimbledon final, where he will bid to successfully defend his title against Zverev on Sunday. It also ended Djokovic’s quest for a record 25th Grand Slam singles title and a record-equalling eighth Wimbledon men’s singles crown. Despite the defeat, the Serbian leaves London after extending his record for the most men’s singles match wins at Wimbledon and becoming the first player in the Open Era to reach eight consecutive semi-finals at the Championships.
