France captain Kylian Mbappe has informed Paris Saint-Germain that he will leave the club after his contract comes to an end in June this year, according to reports.

According to reports from the Athletic, Mbappe has informed PSG of his decision to move in the summer with the terms of his exit yet to be finalized.

“Mbappe has communicated his decision to PSG but the terms of his exit are yet to be fully agreed. An official announcement is expected once the situation is finalized in the next few months,” the report said.

The French striker has long been linked with a big-money move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, reportedly rejecting an offer worth 200 million Euros in 2021.

Mbappe recently scored in PSG’s 2-0 win over Real Sociedad in the first leg of their round of 16 clash in the UEFA Champions League.

Mbappe has scored 31 goals and provided seven assists in 30 matches across competitions this season. He’s found the back of the net 20 times in 19 league matches, leading the goal-scoring charts in Ligue 1.

Mbappe is PSG’s all-time top scorer with 237 goals in 284 appearances, surpassing the record held by Edinson Cavani. In the calendar year of 2023, Mbappe netted 52 goals, with 42 of those coming for PSG. His overall club statistics are equally remarkable, with 275 goals and 123 assists in 355 games, demonstrating his consistent ability to both score and create opportunities.

He has won six Ligue 1 titles, three French Cups, two French League Cups, three French Super Cups, while also winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The 25-year-old has also been named Ligue 1 Player of the Year on two occasions.

Mbappe’s tenure at AS Monaco, where he first burst onto the scene, laid the foundation for his future triumphs. His transfer to PSG in 2017 for 180 million Euros made him the second-most expensive player at the time.

Internationally, he has been a key figure for France, scoring 46 goals and providing 30 assists in 75 appearances, including a historic hat-trick in the 2022 World Cup final, despite France’s loss to Argentina on penalties.

Currently, PSG sit atop Ligue 1 with 50 points from 21 matches, winning 15, drawing five and losing just one. They have a goal-difference of 33, having scored 51 goals and conceded just 18.
