Selvaraghavan is the brother of Dhanush and a renowned director of South, directing films like Pudhupettai and Ayirathil Oruvan.

Tamil star Dhanush has been creating a lot of excitement ever since the announcement of his upcoming 50th movie titled Raayan, directed by Dhanush himself, who will also star in the lead role. Amidst the buzz, there have been speculations regarding the scriptwriting, with claims suggesting that Dhanush’s brother, Selvaraghavan, a renowned director who has previously helmed hits like Mayakkan Yenna, has contributed to the script of Raayan. However, Selvaraghavan has now addressed these rumours.

Selvaraghavan, known for directing cult classics like Pudhupettai and Ayirathil Oruvan, clarified that he has no involvement in the scriptwriting of Raayan. In a statement released on the micro-blogging site X (formerly known as Twitter), he stated, “Friends, heard reports that I have written the script for D50 Raayan. I clarify that I have nothing to do with Raayan’s script or scripting process. It’s purely Dhanush’s dream script and now he has made it into his film. I am merely an actor in this project.”

In a follow-up tweet, he expressed his excitement about the upcoming project, stating that he is eagerly looking forward to watching Raayan in theatres and expressing his pride for Dhanush’s hard work and dedication.

Raayan marks Dhanush’s 50th project and his second venture as a director, following his debut film Pa Paandi released in 2017. The movie boasts an interesting cast ensemble including Sundeep Kishan and Kalidas Jayaram in pivotal roles, with Dhanush’s brother Selvaraghavan also featuring in the movie. It is described as a revenge drama, with the makers releasing the first look of Dhanush’s character sporting a close-cut hairstyle, thick moustache and a blood-stained apron to build anticipation. The film is set to be released in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Apart from Raayan, Dhanush was last seen in Captain Miller, a film that received mixed reviews from both critics and audiences.
