While Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan assumed that the India captain had declared the innings and started getting off the field, Rohit’s animated gesture to send the duo back to play resulted in a laughter-filled episode.
The confusion ensued during the 97th over of India’s second innings, specifically after the drinks break in the late Lunch session. Sarfaraz Khan and Yashasvi Jaiswal, uncertain of Rohit’s decision, began walking back into the stands, believing that the Indian captain had declared the innings. The amusement reached its peak as the duo strolled back, with the players in the dressing room gearing up for their bowling innings.
Witnessing the hilarious mix-up, England openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett hastily made their way upstairs, assuming India had declared. They left the field, preparing for their batting innings in the anticipated 4th innings of the match. However, it was then that Rohit gestured the Indian batters to go and continue to bat. The innings was eventually an over after the drinks break.

Talking about the match, India set England a target of 557 to win in Rajkot in the fourth innings. While everyone was looking forward to the Bazball style of cricket in the final innings, the Indian spinners had other ideas as they took 8 of the 10 wickets to fall with the local boy Ravindra Jadeja scalping a fifer to go with a hundred in the first innings. He bagged the Player Of The Match recogniton as India won the match by 434 runs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal also played a record-shattering knock in India’s second innings, finishing unbeaten on 214* off 236 deliveries while Sarfaraz Khan had a memorable debut scoring a fifty plus score in each of the two innings of the match (62, 68*). The victory means India are now 2-1 ahead in the five-match series.
