Metropolis police in February seized greater than 1,700 kilograms of mephedrone valued at about Rs 3,600 crore in illicit markets throughout Pune, Delhi, and Sangli. Eleven individuals, together with the proprietor of a producing unit in Kurkumbh MIDC (close to Pune) the place the contraband was allegedly produced, have been apprehended.

“We obtained a letter from the ED on Monday, looking for details about the accused. Given the magnitude of the drug racket, it was anticipated that the ED would search particulars,” mentioned the crime department officer.

The central company requested for details about the accused, their financial institution accounts and the places the place searches have been performed. ”Primarily based on the data, the company will examine cash trails and suspected hawala transactions involving the accused,” added the officer.

Police have arrested 11 individuals within the case thus far, with 5 now in judicial custody and 6 in police custody. ”4 suspects, together with the mastermind Sandip Dhunay who has fled the nation, are needed within the case,” he mentioned.
