Former Danish shuttler Mathias Boe has revealed that he has once again been working closely with Indian badminton stars Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty following their historic triumph at the Singapore Open 2026. The 2012 London Olympics silver medallist confirmed that his involvement with the world-class doubles pair has resumed in a consultant and advisory capacity.
Boe’s return to working with the Indian duo comes after their continued rise as one of the most dominant men’s doubles pairs on the global circuit.
“Guess who’s back together?” Boe wrote on social media after Satwik-Chirag became the first Indian pair to win the Singapore Open title, their first BWF tour title in two years.
“Since I now have a bit more time on my hands, pre Thomas Cup I have secretly started working with Satwik and Chirag again. This time as a consultant and sparring for Kim Her Tan, where my focus is going to be on the tactical aspects and match analyses, while coach Tan will stay full time with them.”
He further clarified that the coaching structure would remain collaborative, with responsibilities shared between him and head coach Tan Kim Her.
“Tan and I will do our utmost to make the boys as sharp as possible. Four eyes sees better than two,” Boe added.
Boe had previously played a crucial role in shaping the Indian duo’s rise during his earlier coaching stint, which included their breakthrough performances at major international events. His first phase with Indian badminton saw Satwik-Chirag win a bronze at the 2022 World Championships and gold at the Commonwealth Games the same year, followed by Asian Games gold and Asian Championships success in 2023. Under his guidance, the pair also reached the world No. 1 ranking and claimed multiple BWF World Tour titles, including the prestigious Indonesia Open Super 1000.
The Danish coach had stepped away from his role after the Paris Olympics 2024, taking a break from the sport, before returning in a revised capacity following renewed collaboration with the Indian setup.
BOE TO REMAIN ON SIDELINES
Boe also confirmed that he will be present on the sidelines during major upcoming tournaments, including the Asian Games 2026 in Japan, where he is expected to work alongside coach Tan Kim Her to fine-tune the pair’s tactical approach.
“Singapore Open title tastes good, but we will stay hungry for the World Championships in Delhi and the Asian Games in Japan, where you will see me on the chair again alongside coach Tan,” Boe said.
His return adds an experienced tactical voice to an already dominant Indian duo, as Satwik-Chirag continue to build momentum ahead of a packed international calendar. With renewed support from Boe, the pair will be aiming to convert their consistency into more major titles on the world stage.
