JAMMU: Three sisters were charred to death in their sleep after a fire broke out in their house at Ramsoo in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district early Monday.
“The blaze erupted around 2am in the house of Abdul Latief Lone in Ramsoo’s Tajnihal Danmasta area. On getting information, police and locals rushed to the spot but Abdul’s three daughters — Sanya (9), Saika (15) and Bisma (18) — couldn’t be saved,” said a cop.
Police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Democratic Azad Progressive Party chairman and former chief minister of the erstwhile state of J&K, Ghulam Nabi Azad, urged the administration to provide adequate compensation to the bereaved kin. Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh also condoled the tragedy.
