Sony India unveiled the Alpha 9 III, a new camera model, now available for purchase. Priced at INR 529,990, the camera is accessible through Sony retail stores, major electronic outlets, and online platforms starting February 26, 2024.
The Alpha 9 III features a full-frame global shutter image sensor, a technological advancement with approximately 24.6 effective megapixels.Its blackout-free continuous shooting speed reaches up to 120 frames per second, offering professionals a new dimension in still image performance. The camera’s high-density focal plane phase detection AF, combined with AI processing, ensures precise subject recognition in varying lighting conditions.
In terms of video capabilities, the global shutter image sensor eliminates distortion in both stills and videos. The Alpha 9 III records 4K 120p high-frame-rate video without cropping, allowing for optimal angle-of-view shooting. Additional video features include S-Cinetone™ image creation, rich gradation performance, and compatibility with the mobile app “Monitor & Control” for video creators.
Designed with professional usability in mind, the Alpha 9 III incorporates an improved ergonomic grip for comfortable handling, even with telephoto lenses. The optional VG-C5 vertical grip offers versatility during extended shooting sessions. The camera’s 4-axis multi-angle LCD monitor and 9.44 million-dot Quad XGA OLED electronic viewfinder enhance the operational experience for photographers.
The Alpha 9 III prioritises efficiency with features such as a playback image filter and a function menu accessible during image playback. Its faster data transfer capability enables swift content delivery via FTP. The camera supports various recording options with compatibility for CFexpress Type A cards and UHS-I and UHS-II SD cards. Future software updates are expected to introduce additional functionalities like breathing correction and relay playback.
