The Labour chief stated he welcomed the police investigation into how his deputy, Angela Rayner, dealt with the sale of a house.

Sir Keir Starmer stated it could “enable a line to be drawn” to the claims which have been circulating over which home she lived in, when her former council home was bought.

It comes after Higher Manchester Police stated it could look within the claims made by Conservative Occasion deputy chairman James Daly.
