The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor will take just two hours to travel, covering a distance of 508 km at a top speed of 320 km/h.
Union Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw on February 12 took to X (Formerly Twitter) to share an animated video of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad train corridor, also known as the Bullet train.
The video showcases some of the incredible, cutting-edge features of the ambitious train project. Vaishnaw frequently shares fascinating images of railway stations across India and keeps followers informed about railway developments, as reported by Mint.
The bullet train, which will travel 508 kilometres between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, is expected to reach a top speed of 320 kilometres per hour, reducing travel time to just two hours.
Additionally, a total of 24 river bridges and 28 steel bridges are being built for the bullet train route. The video describes the project as “a marvel of world-class engineering” and “the future of India.” Union Railways Minister Vaishnaw shared the video and wrote, “We weave reality, not dreams. Stay tuned for the Bullet Train in Modi 3.0!”

Since construction began in November 2021, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor has been steadily progressing. In 2023, the railway minister announced that the first bullet train section in India, a 50-kilometer stretch between Bilimora and Surat in Gujarat, would be completed in August 2026.
When the Indian Railways begins operations, it will operate 35 bullet trains, making approximately 70 trips per day. It intends to increase the number to 105 trains by 2050. When operations start, approximately 1.6 crore people are expected to travel by train each year.
Mumbai-Ahmedabad Train Corridor (Bullet Train): Check Features
- The bullet train will travel 508 km between Mumbai and Ahmedabad at a maximum speed of 320 km/h.

- The Bullet Train corridor will also include an early earthquake detection system.
- A total of 28 steel bridges, 24 river bridges, and 7 mountain tunnels are being built for the bullet train route.
- The undersea tunnel for the Bullet Train corridor will be 7 kilometres in length.
- The corridor will also feature twelve cutting-edge railway stations.
- The estimated cost comes to Rs 1.08 lakh crore, of which Rs 10,000 crore is committed by the Centre and Rs 5,000 crore each by Gujarat and Maharashtra.
- The remaining funds will be secured through a loan from Japan at a minimum interest rate of 0.1 percent.
