Towhid Hridoy produced one of the greatest individual batting performances in Bangladesh cricket history on Wednesday, smashing an unbeaten 350 for Bangladesh A against South Africa A in the second unofficial Test in Potchefstroom.
The Bangladesh A captain faced 481 balls, hitting 27 fours and ten sixes, as he led his side to a record total of 676 for eight declared. Coming in at No.4, Hridoy was at the heart of Bangladesh A’s remarkable recovery after they slipped to 86 for three in response to South Africa A’s first-innings total of 512.
He added 151 runs with Jaker Ali, who fell six short of a century after scoring 94, before putting on another crucial 185-run partnership with Mohammad Saifuddin, who made 87. Hridoy’s marathon innings spanned more than 191 overs and saw him rewrite several first-class records.
South Africa A reached 18 without loss in 12 overs before the match ended in a draw. Although Bangladesh A lost the two-match unofficial Test series 1-0, the series finale unquestionably belonged to Hridoy, whose extraordinary triple century set a new first-class batting record for Bangladesh.

Who is Towhidy Hridoy?
Born in Bogra on December 4, 2000, Towhid Hridoy has long been regarded as one of Bangladesh’s most promising middle-order batters. A right-hander who can also bowl off-spin, Hridoy came through the country’s youth system and was part of Bangladesh’s historic Under-19 World Cup-winning squad in 2020.
He made his first-class debut for Rajshahi Division in 2017 and gradually built his reputation through domestic cricket and franchise leagues. His performances earned him an international call-up in 2023, with Hridoy making his T20I debut against England on March 9 before making his ODI debut against Ireland later that month.
Since then, he has become a regular in Bangladesh’s limited-overs set-up, while also representing franchises including Sylhet Strikers, Fortune Barishal, Comilla Victorians, Jaffna Kings and Rangpur Riders. He made his Test debut against Zimbabwe in June 2026, adding another milestone to his international career.
At 25, Hridoy’s unbeaten 350 is now the defining innings of his career. His marathon knock in Potchefstroom showcased a different side to his game, combining patience, concentration and temperament with his attacking ability.
For Bangladesh cricket, the question now is not simply who Towhid Hridoy is, but how far he can go.
