The world’s oldest man has died on the age of 114, slightly below two months earlier than his a hundred and fifteenth birthday.

Juan Vicente Perez, from Venezuela, was confirmed to be the world’s oldest residing man by Guinness World Information when he was aged 112 years and 253 days as of 4 February 2022.

He attributed his longevity to “working exhausting, resting on holidays, going to mattress early, consuming a glass of aguardiente [a strong liquor] daily, loving God, and at all times carrying him in his coronary heart”.

Born on 27 Might 1909, Mr Perez was married to Ediofina del Rosario Garcia for 60 years till she died in 1997.

Collectively that they had 11 kids – six sons and 5 daughters – and later had 42 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

He celebrated his one hundred and tenth birthday in 2019, turning into the primary male supercentenarian from Venezuela.

President Nicholas Maduro tweeted: “Juan Vicente Perez Mora has transcended into eternity at 114 years previous, from the city of El Cobre he gave Venezuela the Guinness File for being the oldest man on the earth.
