Ferrari have secured the long-term future of Charles Leclerc by extending the Monegasque driver’s stay with the team through a fresh multi-year contract, ensuring he remains part of the Scuderia’s plans for several seasons to come.
Leclerc’s journey with Ferrari began after an impressive rookie campaign with Sauber in 2018, which came on the back of his Formula 2 championship triumph a year earlier. He was promoted to Ferrari for the 2019 season and has since established himself as one of the team’s most prominent drivers.
During his time in red, Leclerc has delivered several memorable moments for Ferrari supporters, including victories at Monza in 2019 and 2024, as well as a landmark win on the streets of Monaco in 2024. He has also climbed to second place on Ferrari’s all-time list for race starts, trailing only legendary seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher.
“I couldn’t be happier to continue this journey with Scuderia Ferrari HP,” said Leclerc. “It has always been so much more than just a team to me.
“It’s the team I’ve loved and dreamt of being part of since I was a child, and after all these years it has become a second family.”
“Together we’ve shared incredible moments and some tougher ones, but I believe in this team more than ever, and I’m deeply grateful that we will keep pushing side by side toward our shared goal of bringing the World Championship back to Maranello.”
“Being a Ferrari driver is a dream, but it’s also a responsibility I never take for granted. I’ll continue to give absolutely everything I have to bring this team back to where it belongs, at the very top, for everyone in Maranello, and above all for the tifosi, whose passion is the heartbeat of this Scuderia.”
The contract extension further strengthens a partnership that stretches back nearly a decade. Leclerc first became associated with Ferrari through its driver academy in 2016 and has remained committed to the team’s long-term vision. The new agreement also underlines his belief that Ferrari can return to the top of Formula One and challenge for a world title in the years ahead.
News of the extension arrives just before Leclerc’s home Grand Prix in Monaco, where Ferrari are expected to be among the frontrunners despite Mercedes dominating the opening races of the season.
Ferrari have traditionally been competitive around the narrow streets of Monte Carlo, with the circuit’s slow-speed corners and uneven surface often suiting the characteristics of their car. The unique nature of the track, which places less emphasis on outright engine performance, could also help reduce Mercedes’ advantage and offer Ferrari a stronger opportunity to challenge for victory.
