NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday cited an investigation report to allege that the Congress was part of an ‘anarchy and regime change plot’, drawing parallels between unrest across Europe and protests in India demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.Addressing a press conference, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia alleged that Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi had met representatives of Progressive International at 10 Janpath on April 10, 2025. Bhatia displayed an image that he claimed showed the meeting.Bhatia alleged that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had met the international organisation in Janpath, while referring to Rahul Gandhi as “G for gaddar, not Gandhi”.“This Progressive International organisation describes itself as a transnational anti-capitalist organisation. According to the report I showed, the unrest and vandalism of historical monuments in France, the incidents in Spain, what is happening in India, and the events in Albania are all linked to Progressive International”, Bhatia claimed, alleging that the events formed part of a coordinated effort to challenge elected governments and constitutional institutions.“Wherever there is an elected government, they want to overthrow it. They want to destroy constitutional institutions such as the Supreme Court and Parliament, as well as historical buildings.”“France, Albania, Spain and India — everything is linked”, he said, questioning why Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi are not ashamed of meeting such people. The claims followed a Fox News Digital investigation, titled ‘Global Chaos Inc Grows to 101 Groups’. The report said it had identified 101 organisations across nine countries within what it described as a “red-green protest ecosystem”, referring to Islamist and communist groups. The investigation also flagged Indian Alliance Paris (IAP), a France-based organisation, as “connecting French and Indian protest messaging”, and said it was “partnered with the People’s Forum in Manhattan”.

It cited an October 16 briefing by Progressive International that grouped protests in France, Spain, India and Albania, asking whether the “new rebellions can acquire the organised power to change the conditions that produced them?”. The organisation wrote: “These are the forces that Progressive International is working to support and connect.”Bhatia also criticised Rahul Gandhi’s interactions with British MP Jeremy Corbyn and US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, alleging that their positions on Kashmir were contrary to India’s interests. He accused Rahul of seeking support from organisations he described as anti-India. “Such organisations may be anti-India, but how can the LoP of the country India be anti-India?”, he asked.
