Tonight’s BAFTAs is a full-circle moment for Da’Vine Joy Randolph. “I’m so excited; it’s my first time [at the BAFTAs],” the actor—who would go on to win the best-supporting-actress prize for her stellar performance in The Holdovers—tells Vogue over the phone a few hours ahead of the ceremony. “It’s such a deep honor to be nominated as my career started here [in London]; it means a lot.”

It makes sense, then, that Randolph—who got her big break on the West End in *Ghost: The Musical—*decided to pay tribute to the British capital on the red carpet via a custom gown by London-based designer Robert Wun. A modern take on old-school Hollywood glamour, the one-shouldered dress—based on look 20 from Wun’s spring/summer 2024 couture collection—features a peach corset and black velvet skirt with a dramatic train.

“It’s beautifully draped,” the actor says of the gown, which she paired with black opera gloves, adding that “elegance, opulence and timelessness” are important attributes for her awards season looks. Randolph, a self-confessed fashion lover, actually came across Wun’s latest couture collection via the Vogue Runway app. “It gives me notifications when certain shows are dropping,” she says. “I looked through [Wun’s] haute couture show and thought it was so provocative; I thought it was amazing.”

Ahead of a major awards ceremony, Randolph likes to prep her skin with an “aggressive facial” from FaceGym, before having a lymphatic drainage massage “to get all the puffiness and any extra fluid out.” For her beauty look, the brief was “polished and elegant,” with the actor wearing her bleached-blonde hair in a quiff, tying into the Old Hollywood glamour theme.
