The Maha Vikas Aghadi has decided to field candidates from all 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, and have been holding a series of meetings and talks in the last two to three months

The Maha Vikas Aghadi will hold a meeting to seal the seat-sharing formula for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, in Mumbai on February 27. There are some seven to eight seats across Maharashtra, including Mumbai, yet to be finalised.

According to highly placed sources, all these seats will be discussed in this meeting. The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has decided to field candidates from all 48 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Over the past two to three months, the alliance partners have held a series of holding meetings and discussions about each seat.

“There is good coordination within the MVA. A meeting has been called on February 27 to finalise the seat-sharing talks. Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, state Congress head and other leaders will be present for this meeting and take the final call regarding seat sharing,” said Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut.

“There is no fixed formula that the MVA has decided on for seat-sharing. We have discussed the seats based on merit,” he said, adding that he is confident that the Sena will contest 23 seats in the state.

The MVA wants Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) leader Prakash Ambedkar to be part of the alliance, and has also written a letter to him. But, the MP wants a discussion on minimum support price (MSP) as well as Maratha and OBC reservation before being part of the MVA.

Congress state incharge Ramesh Chennithala said, “We are in talks with Prakash Ambedkar. We have agreed on his demands but haven’t discussed seats with him.”

In the same meeting, MVA leaders are likely to plan their election rallies. The ‘Vajramuth’ rally, which was started by the MVA before it was halted by the NCP debacle, will also take off again.

Sources in the MVA said this time they are planning that Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar should address a maximum number of rallies together along with senior Congress leaders.
