An adolescent has died after a suspected crocodile assault off an island within the Torres Strait, police have confirmed.
Thursday Island water police launched a search and rescue operation close to Saibai Island after receiving studies at about 4am on Thursday {that a} 16-year-old boy was lacking.
{The teenager}, and a 13-year-old boy, reportedly tried to swim again to shore from a damaged down dinghy, Queensland police mentioned.
On Thursday night time a spokesperson confirmed that they’d found the physique of the older boy.
They’ve since confirmed that he had accidents “according to a crocodile assault”.

A spokesperson for Queensland’s Division of Setting, Science and Innovation mentioned wildlife officers will now survey the waters off Saibai Island as a way to try to find the crocodile concerned.
