Dhoom, No Entry and Dus remain Esha Deol’s only successful films.

Esha Deol had once expressed that she regretted turning down Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal, Vishal Bharadwaj’s Omkara.

We all know Esha Deol through her myriad characters in Dhoom, Kaal, No Entry, Dus and the quite recent Ajay Devgn’s OTT series Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness. The actress who emerged a breakthrough star in her career has always been open about her career choices from time to time. As such, the actress had once confessed how she regretted turning down Omkara and Golmaal.

In one of her previous interviews with the entertainment portal Bollywood Bubble, Esha Deol has shared, “I regret passing on Golmaal. If I name all the films that I passed on, people would want to throw a slipper at me. But honestly speaking the people who went on to do those films and those characters have done a fantastic job. I even rejected Omkara. I was asked for the role that Bipasha Basu ended up playing, but she was absolutely… she justified that role. I am glad she did it, she was so good.”

Bollywood actress Esha Deol is in the news owing to her separation from her husband Bharat Takhtani. Unconfirmed reports were doing the rounds for quite some time before the estranged couple confirmed their split publicly on February 7 after 12 years of marriage. Esha Deol has been missing from showbiz for quite some while now and it does not come as a shocker since, out of 25 films she did in 23 years, only 3 were successful. It is said that her father Dharmendra initially did not want his daughter to work in the film industry but her mother Hema Malini convinced him to allow her.

Esha Deol debuted with the film Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche in 2002 which went by largely unnoticed. Unfortunately, this stint of unsuccessful films continued as between 2002 and 2004, she delivered six flops. This list included films like Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, Kya Dil Ne Kaha, Kuch To Hai, Chura Liya Hai Tumne, LOC Kargil and Yuva.

Her luck momentarily changed in the year 2004 when she made a big decision in her career after consulting her mother Hema Malini. Esha had been doing girl next door kind of roles till then and in 2004, she decided to break free from the typecast by attempting a bold role in Dhoom which required her to wear a bikini. She sought permission from Hema Malini and her mother agreed. Esha appeared in numerous scenes in Dhoom, wearing a bikini. Apart from the movie being a blockbuster, Esha received good reviews too.

After the film Dhoom, she gave another hit film in 2005 which was No Entry. However, being a multi-starrer, most of the praise and accolades for the hit film were taken by other cast members. The same happened with the film Dus, where she was paired opposite Abhishek Bachchan. The film was successful but she was lost in the crowd of bigger stars in the film.

After this, Esha gave a dozen flop films consecutively with movies like Main Aisa Hi Hoon, Kaal, Tell Me O Khuda, Hijack, Money Hai To Honey Hai, Sunday, Darling, Cash, Just Married, Mera Dil Leke Dekho, Ankaheen, Pyare Mohan and Shaadi No. 1, Dhoom, No Entry and Dus remain her only successful films. She soon retired from acting after her marriage.
